First Class badges for Cdt G, D, W, and S(19/07). Promotion to FS for Sgt P. Spitfire won the last Sports night, 16/08, to draw level. Cadet of month for Aug 23 goes to Cdt B for engagement in desire to take on things, technological competence, emotional strength and courage.

Annual camp season is in full swing

Image
In the old days, the whole Sqn used to go on camp together as a unit. Nowadays, cadets from across the Wing get to go on camp together hence we get to send them to different camps where they get to stay on an RAF Station, do fun things and meet new people. There's more, but so far we've had cadets on Southwick Park camp and RAF Wittering camp.

3 Bronze DofE's Awarded and 1 Gold pending

Well done to Cdt H, Cdt Band Cdt G. Their Bronze DofE's are now approved (certificate/badges pending). Also we have another Gold from 2022 expedition season awaiting verification for Sgt M.

Next intake is mid-Sept 2023

1368 Sqn operates an intake system so that cadets who join together go through training together. We are currently doing pre-arranged visits for those on waiting list ready for the mid-September 2023 intake.  If you're looking to join after the next school year starts then now is the time to enquire. The official RAF Air Cadets "find a squadron" link is here: https://www.raf.mod.uk/aircadets/interested-in-joining-as-a-cadet/?squadronno=1368 Not all Squadron's run an intake system but at 1368 Sqn we've found that, as well as helping the delivery of training, it works to build friendship groups that last. Making new friends is a core part of the cadet experience.

We've done a few nights of STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) related team challenges, incl. use of STEM kits. Vulcan took a 1pt lead in the inter-flight competition after Wednesday's 3rd STEM round. Also restocked the NAAFI, and some of the blue badgers banged out a tune on real drums. Note: Sqn runs an intake system with aim that everyone starts at same time and goes through training together. The first intake for 2023-2024 year is in Sept 2023 hence you should hear from us in the next few weeks about this if waiting.

Another kayaking session

Image
With the summer months being so amazingly hot, we managed to slip in another kayaking morning including the obligatory deck walking and seal launch. Cadets who've attended multiple sessions also get their British Canoeing Paddle Start Award from Royal Leamington Spa Canoe Club.
