Has been an exceptionally busy period despite 9 months without a building. Last Sat saw cadets from 1368 Sqn participate in Leamington & Warwick Armed Forces Day for 3rd year running, incl. annual drill & challenge competitions against the local Army and Sea Cadets. 1368 won the drill again, 2nd in "the challenge" to the Sea Cadets. Well done all. Also great engagement with the general public with cadets showing little kids first aid and drumming, and entertaining dignitaries, and some great shots with the tank. Another win for 1368 Community Duty pillar this year. Great staff team performance and also thanks to 1289's FS R for helping with drill prep and on the day.

Cadets and staff from 1368 paraded the Sqn and Wing banners at the funeral of Frederick John Dawe today, attended by Wing Commanders and OCs of 1368 past and present. John was the first OC of 1368 (1971-1980), a Wing Staff Officer (1980-1988), and OC Wing (1988-1995). It was a very poignant ceremony with senior guests and strong RBL attendance. Very proud of Sgt G, Cpl R, Cpl K and Cdt B who stepped up to attend. They representing the Sqn and the Air Cadets with distinction, incl. banner and slow marching elements. You did a very good thing. Thanks also to Sgt B for help in training banner to those going on Wednesday.

Well done to all the cadets and staff who turned up for today's church parade to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Corps with Commandant of the Air Cadets and other dignitaries. Special thanks to all the mid/oldies doing exams at the moment for making the effort. Some great photos, incl. some with the Air Commodore Al Lewis. OC also got some badges to give out from amazing subject matter experts in Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing who manage the progressive training syllabus areas like Radio and DofE.

60 cadets from 1368 Sqn Air Cadets paraded across two parades on Sunday. Warwick was fixed at 20 cadets and Leamington with 40 cadets; a visual indication of the strength and momentum of the Air Cadets in Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa. Here's some photos from the super-smart 20 cadets that paraded and laid a Wreath at Warwick. This was 1368 Sqn's largest turn-out for Remembrance day in its history with 60 cadets and 6 staff across two parallel events (up from 46 in 2024 and 2023) paying their respects for those that have given their lives in past conflicts. Well done to all the cadets and the hard work they put in getting their uniforms up to expected standards; representing the youth of today with pride. Let's hope that the necessary maintenance is carried out, so we get our joint cadet centre with the army cadets back soon.

Our newbies did the Sqn proud with amazing work despite limited time due to building still being closed. We also had a cadet play in the Sea Cadet band for the first time. Our ex-1368 OC and Civ Comm chairman was able to join us on the return march past in Leamington as 1368 Sqn Air Cadets paid respects in memory to those who've lost their lives in past conflicts in World War I && II and more recent conflicts. 3 weeks now with no work done on building by RFCA and VIVO. However, amazing work by NCOs and Cadets trying to get uniforms and drill level ready for Remembrance Parades. We also saw plenty peer revision this week. We have an unusually high number of mids doing GCSE's this year. Many thanks to Aylesford School allowing use of classrooms and Chat GPT for all its assistance (more lessons on why AI language models may not always tell the truth and why individual thoughts and creativity are important to come). Nice to see cadets from different schools helping each other though. Fantastic effort by new intake on uniform given problems with building access. Some amazing individual effort noticed. 1368 is not the smallest of Squadrons. Photos are first with 0925 intake in uniform with main cohort. 

Sunday saw 33 cadets from 1368 Sqn compete against 17 other squadrons in Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing for the coveted Per Ardua Wing Competition Trophy.  Having come 3rd last year it showed what an amazing group of cadets/NCOs/staff we have at moment that they achieve 1368's first ever win (one year older, one year wiser) against very tough competition, a virtue of the breadth of competitions in which they are able to score well. Great to see new intake also playing their part. A fantastic team achievement. This year more competitions than ever counted in the scores. The competitions included the full range of activities in the Air Cadet syllabus including Drill, Banner, Radio, STEM, Space, Leadership, First Aid, Ensemble, Drone/RPAS, eSports, and Aircraft Recognition.  The Squadron's ensemble team managed to pull off the 2nd year in a row win with their performance of Mama Mia and Chelsea Dagger, much thanks to Sgt R who returned from GCSEs and managed to pull out a winni...

Last couple of weeks have seen the Banner and band both back in step as we start training for Wing competition. Wed saw Fg Off D, the Wing band master down with Cdt R achieving his Blue band badge (assessed primarily by performing 3 songs in band while marching). Well done. Banner team was out on the parade square on 16 July 2025. Drill and uniform is one of the pillars of 1368 Squadron and cadets are expected to maintain high dress standards and maintain their uniform as well as understand of ceremonial and performance drill. Squadron was 3rd out of 18 in last year's Wing competition at Drill against stiff competition, which was made more impressive by many of the cadets having to focus on 1368's first ever entry into the Wing band competition. 

Well done to the staff and cadets that helped support this year's AFD. It's the 2nd consecutive year we've done this and it has been a catalyst for building good relations with the local Army and Sea Cadet units, who's energy and enthusiasm is acknowledged. This year we beat them at Drill though, a useful habit (Sea Cadets won Drill last year, would you believe it?). Did I mention  there is a Wing Competition Day is coming up in Sept? Anyway, a hot day, by all accounts, leading to cadet challenge race being cancelled but the flypast by the Lancaster was a nice addition.  Many thanks to staff and cadets for their efforts and achievement in presenting the youth of today and the RAF Air Cadet organisation in such a positive light.

5 of our cadets attended RAF Cosford on a new multi-activity format for Wing training, focused on Bronze+ badges. Well done to Cpl W on her Drill Instructor Course, Cdt K and Cdt F on Bronze Cyber, and two Cdt K's achieved their Youth First Aid (YFA).  Bronze badges are a step up from Sqn Blue-level training. It's great to see our cadets sign up. Attending RAF Cosford also adds to the experience to stay away on an RAF base and meet cadets and staff from other squadrons.

Fieldcraft training continued (half way through blue syllabus). Sqn made use of FS P's Uni break to deliver Bronze Cyber theory for mids. Sgt G got a Colin the Caterpillar cake and Master cadet badge for turning 15. Safety awareness drive included starting Entry Level Award (ELA) for Safety and stores team did a redistribution of kit. Operation "we love health & safety" continues despite lighting some little flames in the building.

Well done to the 4 cadets and 1 SNCO from 1368 Sqn attended last weekend's Wing course at RAF Cosford aimed at increasing knowledge of Foot, Banner & Ceremonial Drill.  The course is designed to bring knowledge & enthusiasm onto back Sqns to deliver consistent teaching across the Wing and was also a great opportunity for them to do rifle drill.  The next step is to use their new found knowledge to raise 1368 drill standards for newbies, so to match recent focus on improving uniform standards.

It's an important part of being a cadet. The RAF provide blues uniforms to cadets. 1368 Sqn is one of the Squadron that provides MTP uniform, although this is a Sqn decision, rather than standard across the Corps. 

OMG. Amazing first Athletics session on Wednesday, top-to-bottom, across all categories (bodes well for future). The teamwork and comradery is on fire at the moment with so many strong but different personalities coming in in last 2 intakes and gelling into a supportive team. OC really impressed with personal effort at first training session for athletics. Full age range back in training and promise shown from new intake. Some of newbies are on rocket fuel. Sqn also switched to a uniform focus with some Wedgewood blue nights. We do not want to just be the best, we want to look the best. Cdt D and Cdt G show OC what a Wing blues badge looks like. 

A bit of catch-up but fantastic night on Wed 4 Dec. Well done to brave new intake and the cadets who put on a great show looking back on their successes in 2024. This annual awards evening is a chance for cadets to reflect on some of their achievements for 2024. The evening was delivered by the cadets themselves hence gave them the opportunity to experience holding the attention of the 120+ audience, fantastic for those using Coaching, Teaching & Leadership > Air Training Corps as their DofE Volunteer section. 1368 Squadron's achievements for 2024 included 1) Winning Wing Athletics 2024 (third year in a row), 2) 3 Junior Leader graduations (unprecedented), 3) 1 Qualified Aerospace Instructor Award graduation, 4) 3rd in Wing competition incl. 3rd Drill/1st Cyber/1st Ensemble, 5) 5 Gold DofE Awards, 6) Wing Best Sqn for DofE Trophy 2023/24 7) Squadron's first ever band performance (3rd in Wing band competition) 8) Having fun. Well done to the  Leam Spa parade contingent on Sunday. Personal thanks for effort put into uniforms and drill practice. You looked amazingly good on the day. Special mention to Cdt K who was 1st time Wreath layer, and Cpl B, 1st time Banner bearer on a remembrance parade. This year we had 20 cadets at Warwick and 25 cadets at Leamington, one less than last couple of years but still 45 cadets is a pretty good number for a single Sqn.
