Operation Henley Ice Cream 2024

There's no better way to learn to map read that actually doing it. We first did this walk as a way to do socially distanced DofE training coming out of COVID lockdown (cooking on route and carrying expedition rucksacks but without camping). Become a cadet favourite in expedition training now, as we introduce pre-DofE and DofE practicing cadets to the delights of exotic flavoured ice cream and mud.

Back from our Wing athletics win, we've been finishing off stuff, prior to next training segment post-GCSE. Great knowledge exchange happening across cadets on marching band. Strong show from aspirational NCOs wanting to achieve MOI/Instructor cadet lanyard. One of our cadets undertakes Warwick Major's Cadet duties. We also tested plan for inter-cadet force Warwick Armed Forces Day competition.

Kayaking on River Leam, 2 Jun 2024

Sunday saw a great session for cadets from 1368 Sqn on the River Leam paddling from Royal Leamington Spa Canoe Club, near Victoria Park. Perfect weather. Group managed a bit of journeying as well plus the obligatory cooling down time at the end. Two of the cadets were awarded the Go Paddling Start Award having completed multiple sessions, so their cadet records have been updated. Great fun. Adventure training is one of the pillars of 1368 Sqn and is great for team building and development of personal self-confidence and resilience.

1368 Sqn wins Wing Athletics 3rd year in a row, June 1 2024

1368 won overall best in Wing for 3rd year in the row. Not easy though. Girls competition was particularly competitive. Everyone 8th or higher in track or 10th or higher in field events got points for the team. Our junior men (aka senior) boys smashed it though, really pleased that they got the just rewards for bringing it home, esp. as many doing GCSEs. Also a gutsy performance by junior boys to get 3rd in their category, one of the more competitive groups.  Not sure actual points margin but it seemed tough. Other Sqns really stepped up and should be congratulated on their performances, esp. 492 and 29F who fielded really strong teams. Huge team effort by all those who competed.
