Rock band practice the week before Sept 2025 ensemble competition win video

You only have to watch young people on a skateboard park to understand their hunger to develop their skills and challenge themselves. One of the exciting things is the challenge of competition. This was our 1368 cadets practicing for the Wing Competition Day at the end of Sept 2025. Probably after 3 sessions having procrastinated over which songs to learn. Amazing to see our cadets pull this together as the competition was only a week ago. All done without any staff involvement, but you sense the energy and the teamwork, the personal growth and enthusiasm. "I bet WO P looks good on the parade square" required a bit more practice and learning. Mama Mia and Chelsea Dagger were the eventual choice.  Oh, they won the Wing ensemble. Also won the overall Wing competition day trophy in the end. Never ceases to amaze what is possible when you point young people at impossible tasks.

10 from 1368 attend RAF WARMA Winter Road Marching, 26 Oct 2025

Well done to the 9 cadets and 1 staff from 1368 (ahem VGS 612) that attended long RAF Walking and Road Marching Association (WARMA) marches at Sandbach, Cheshire on Sunday. Another haul of medals, badge progressions, bad jokes, bad (and good) singing, sore feet, but plenty of the usual 1368 comraderie from the photos.

Aylesford School offers help to 1368 Sqn following building closure

Image
Squadron would like to thank support given by Aylesford School in light of being told that it cannot use the Cadet building. The school, which has been using the Cadet Centre, on Stratford Road, in Warwick for that last year, following problems with its own buildings, has a long standing relationship with both the ACF and RAFAC units that parade next to, and was part of the original plan for providing a permanent and sustainable for cadet forces in Warwick. The new incoming Headmaster of Aylesford, Mr P Gilbride, has been very open to helping the Squadron and the Sqn highly commends the operations and facilities team at the school for their assistance over the years and especially the last 2 weeks as we look to find solutions. The Cadet Centre at Warwick is a purpose built brick facility opened in Nov 2016. 1368 Sqn is one of the most successful Squadrons in Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing, winning the Wing Competition day the end of Sept but also being 2nd in Wing athletics (we w...

Late Horley DofE Bronze, 18-19 Oct 2025

Image
Well done to 6 cadets from 1368 (Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa) Sqn and 3 from 1289 (Stratford) Sqn that managed to get their Bronze expedition bagged before exped season end. Lucky on weather, finished wet but managed to avoid worst of it. Very solid fitness and good comraderie. Worked really well with 1289 (Stratford) Sqn cadets joining and taking up spare spaces. Staff from 496 and 1289 also came along hence good staff shadowing happened for future joint exped liaisons. Also great that we have potential to get 6 more Bronze's signed off in Q1 next year. The DofE Scheme remains one of the key pillars of 1368 training programme. Although many schools have started running it, we run the expeditions using cadet staff and hence it tends to be smaller scale and lower cost. We expect all cadets to do DofE Bronze in the first year, if they're not already doing it. Accomplishing an expeditions makes them work as a team to overcome challenges as well as learning about each other an...

1368 Squadron win Per Ardua Trophy at Wing Competition, 28 Sep 2025

Image
Sunday saw 33 cadets from 1368 Sqn compete against 17 other squadrons in Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing for the coveted Per Ardua Wing Competition Trophy.  Having come 3rd last year it showed what an amazing group of cadets/NCOs/staff we have at moment that they achieve 1368's first ever win (one year older, one year wiser) against very tough competition, a virtue of the breadth of competitions in which they are able to score well. Great to see new intake also playing their part. A fantastic team achievement. This year more competitions than ever counted in the scores. The competitions included the full range of activities in the Air Cadet syllabus including Drill, Banner, Radio, STEM, Space, Leadership, First Aid, Ensemble, Drone/RPAS, eSports, and Aircraft Recognition.  The Squadron's ensemble team managed to pull off the 2nd year in a row win with their performance of Mama Mia and Chelsea Dagger, much thanks to Sgt R who returned from GCSEs and managed to pull out a winni...
