1368 Fundraising Quiz night, 11 Nov 2025

Many thanks to the volunteer staff and all the cadets and their families who supported the 1368 Quiz night on Tuesday which raised around £700 for the Sqn. Special thanks also to our neighbours Playbox, for providing their space to a good cause. Advertised as general fundraising event, the underlying intent is to use the money raised to seed and launch a 2 year campaign for a 1368 Squadron 'Minibus/People carrier'. We want to reduce the current and fragile reliance on others' transport. 1368 is a large and vibrant squadron with engaged staff and cadets. By getting a Squadron Operated Vehicle (SOV) and in partnership with other Sqns our vision is that we could be provider rather than taker of transport; able to take more cadets from across the Wing to things like air experience flying at RAF Cosford, and enhance the opportunities for cadets to do expeditions, visit air displays, and attend camps and community duties.


Special thanks to team of CI M (love the jacket), Acting Plt Off D (admin/building begging/payment methods), Sgt G's NAFFI for a massive amount of work behind the scenes sorting it out and getting prizes from kind donators/companies in local community.

Last week, the cadets did some drill practice, partly in readiness for parades that are coming up, partly to give new prospective NCOs some experience "at the front" and also to sharpen up Squadron discipline. Drill is a powerful aid to discipline. It develops a sense of corporate pride, alertness, precision and readiness to obey orders instantly. Good drill in aircraft is directly fostered by the habit of drilling smartly on parade. Thus, smartness on parade is not only a sign of good discipline, but a basic factor in raising the standard of performance in duties. Back in the (really) old days, the Air Cadets used to have its own Air Cadet drill manual. Nowadays this is all gone. The RAFAC aligns wholly to the RAF Drill manual called AP818 . Wearing poppy's with RAF Air Cadet blues and MTP uniforms

Air Cadets wear poppy's with their uniform in the lead up to the Remembrance Parades each year. This information was taken from the 20231026-RAFAC_Poppy_With_Pride_Poster_SCO_V5-O.pdf From: The onset of sales each year. Until: The end of national and local observation of remembrance. Always: On remembrance parades/events by all RAFAC personnel involved. Never: Worn with flying clothing, GPJ, wet weather clothing or on head dress. For ceremonial dress and parades the conventional paper poppy is to be worn. On working dress and combat uniform a plain enamel poppy badge not exceeding 2.5cm (1”) may be worn. The plain enamel badge may be worn with Mess dress at the discretion of the PMC or CMC. When worn it is to be positioned immediately above the right breast pocket (preferably inserted in the button hole) of the No 1 SD jacket and in the corresponding position on female jackets, No2, No3 and Mess dress. 17 Basic Swimming Competence Test successes today

Well done to the 17 or so cadets that achieved their Basic Swim test today. Bravo. That means you can partake in 1368 Kayaking mayhem, should you wish. BASIC SWIMMING COMPETENCE CERTIFICATE FOR AIR CADETS To qualify for this certificate personnel are required to demonstrate Swimming Competence as follows: Swim 50 metres without rest, using any recognised single swimming stroke Remain afloat for 2 minutes in a restricted area of water, with a maximum radius of 2 metres Exit the pool at a point where the candidate is out of depth without an aid. However, in locations where there is a considerable distance between the water and poolside, as found in some service pools, some assistance may be given at the examiner’s discretion. All elements of the demonstration are to be performed consecutively in the order shown above, in standard swimwear.
