Well done to first batch of 0925/0226 intake to get their Blue badge Foundation Leadership having passed 2 success leads. Cdt B, Cdt P, Cdt P, Cdt R, Cdt S, Cdt S, and Cdt K. 4 nights done so far, more to come.




Putting our new intakes through extended leadership training has two goals for us. Firstly, it gets cadets the blue badge which opens up ability to bid for Bronze leadership at sector or Wing level. Secondly, it's actually a really good and fun way of getting cadets to interact with their peers to build friendships, teamwork and mutual understanding, i.e. it bonds them together so that when we get to things like expedition training they already feel part of a team.

Last week, the cadets did some drill practice, partly in readiness for parades that are coming up, partly to give new prospective NCOs some experience "at the front" and also to sharpen up Squadron discipline. Drill is a powerful aid to discipline. It develops a sense of corporate pride, alertness, precision and readiness to obey orders instantly. Good drill in aircraft is directly fostered by the habit of drilling smartly on parade. Thus, smartness on parade is not only a sign of good discipline, but a basic factor in raising the standard of performance in duties. Back in the (really) old days, the Air Cadets used to have its own Air Cadet drill manual. Nowadays this is all gone. The RAFAC aligns wholly to the RAF Drill manual called AP818 . Wearing poppy's with RAF Air Cadet blues and MTP uniforms

Air Cadets wear poppy's with their uniform in the lead up to the Remembrance Parades each year. This information was taken from the 20231026-RAFAC_Poppy_With_Pride_Poster_SCO_V5-O.pdf From: The onset of sales each year. Until: The end of national and local observation of remembrance. Always: On remembrance parades/events by all RAFAC personnel involved. Never: Worn with flying clothing, GPJ, wet weather clothing or on head dress. For ceremonial dress and parades the conventional paper poppy is to be worn. On working dress and combat uniform a plain enamel poppy badge not exceeding 2.5cm (1”) may be worn. The plain enamel badge may be worn with Mess dress at the discretion of the PMC or CMC. When worn it is to be positioned immediately above the right breast pocket (preferably inserted in the button hole) of the No 1 SD jacket and in the corresponding position on female jackets, No2, No3 and Mess dress. 17 Basic Swimming Competence Test successes today

Well done to the 17 or so cadets that achieved their Basic Swim test today. Bravo. That means you can partake in 1368 Kayaking mayhem, should you wish. BASIC SWIMMING COMPETENCE CERTIFICATE FOR AIR CADETS To qualify for this certificate personnel are required to demonstrate Swimming Competence as follows: Swim 50 metres without rest, using any recognised single swimming stroke Remain afloat for 2 minutes in a restricted area of water, with a maximum radius of 2 metres Exit the pool at a point where the candidate is out of depth without an aid. However, in locations where there is a considerable distance between the water and poolside, as found in some service pools, some assistance may be given at the examiner’s discretion. All elements of the demonstration are to be performed consecutively in the order shown above, in standard swimwear.
